Ashley Pengilly, Couture Designer

Since 2018, I have taught myself the art of design and couture construction. For many years I created one-of-a-kind gowns and pieces for myself utilizing the highest of clothing architecture and construction skills.

However, through years of extensive research and understanding of the fashion’s industries environmental impact, I felt a strong calling to shift my focus and be the change I wanted to see.

This began with the simple idea that instead of designing for design sake, I needed to make sustainability the pillar of every creation. Upcycling old pieces, creating low/no waste designs with designer deadstock fabrics, and even utilizing natural fibers/dyes would all serve my goal of being an environmentally responsible designer and artist.

Quintilis focuses on natural fibers and dyes in its couture practices, but also utilizes various other sustainable design practices to meet the needs of clients.

Quintilis is couture, as nature intended, and a step forward in luxurious, natural clothing.

& Interior Designer…

Interior design is more than just aesthetics—it’s about crafting spaces that inspire, comfort, and elevate everyday living. With a passion for creating environments that foster creativity and well-being, I design interiors that go beyond beautiful finishes and high-end furnishings. Whether transforming intimate spaces or large commercial settings, my goal is to curate interiors that feel inviting, engaging, and deeply personal—where style meets functionality, and every detail tells a story.

What is Quintilis?

When creating a brand that steps back to the origins of fabric dye and honors a more than 4,000 year process, I thought it would be fitting to name the brand using the historical roots of a significant moment in my life.

Quintilis [kwin-til-is] is the name of the 5th month in the 10-month ancient Roman calendar, created by Romulus (founder of Rome) in 738BC.

In 46BC, Julius Caesar created the 12-month Julian calendar (widely used until the Gregorian calendar was introduced in 1582AD). After Caesar’s assassination in 44BC, Quintilis was renamed to ‘July’ in honor of his birth month.

So in celebration of my birthday on July 7th, I decided to name my brand, Quintilis.
